The biggest selling feature of the next generation MacBook Pro is its Retina display. The notebook has an impressive 15.4-inch LED-backlit display with 2880-by-1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch. The specs look great on paper and according to a display-focused review by The Verge, the display looks amazing in person, too. This improvement is best seen in a side-by-side shot of Chrome on the non-Retina MacBook Pro and a Retina MacBook Pro. Text, which has blurry edges on the MacBook Pro, is crisp and defined on the Retina MacBook Pro. As noted, the Chrome team is already working on a Retina update; you can see the effect already if you want to run the Chrome Canary bleeding-edge nightly builds. You can check out the short review of the display and a full review of the Retina MacBook Pro on The Verge's website.Side-by-side browsers on MacBook Pro with Retina display originally appeared on TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog on Thu, 14 Jun 2012 17:00:00 EST. Unofficial Apple Weblog-Laptop Upgrades-Macbook Pro-Bloomberg
Bloomberg reports that Apple is preparing laptop upgrades with models that are thinner than the existing Pro units; the new machines are expected to run on Intel's Ivy Bridge processors. This follows on rumors from earlier today that a new MacBook Pro and iMac appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking tool. The machines, which Bloomberg says are to be announced during WWDC, are also expected to sport Retina or HiDPI displays and a flash memory subsystem to speed up boot times. All those details are in line with a post from 9to5 Mac earlier today. Bloomberg also says that Apple might announce Mountain Lion's release date during WWDC as well.Bloomberg: Apple will debut new laptop lineup at WWDC originally appeared on TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog on Mon, 14 May 2012 18:15:00 EST. The suit lists Apple's entire lineup of touch-related devices including the iPod, iPad, iPhone, and sixth generation iPod nano as infringing products. It also lists the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, the Magic Mouse in combination with any Mac computer running OS X Snow Leopard v10.6.1 and the Magic Trackpad in combination with any Mac computer running OS X Snow Leopard v.10.6.4 or later.Apple sued over all touch-based products originally appeared on TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog on Mon, 23 Apr 2012 10:30:00 EST.
