Vintage Computer-Apple History
A rare piece of Apple history is no longer on the market. Last Friday, Auction house Sotheby's sold a working Apple I computer for US$374,500. The vintage computer sold for more than twice its estimated value after a bidding war broke out between two bidders, according to a CNN Money report. The lucky winner was an anonymous telephone bidder who will walk away with one of only six known units. Apple originally produced 50 Apple I's and the other 44 are missing. Also on the auction block was a letter Steve Jobs sent to Atari. The letter sold for $27,500, which like the Apple I was significantly more than it was valued.Vintage Apple I sells for $375,000 originally appeared on TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog on Mon, 18 Jun 2012 14:00:00 EST. Apple Ceo Tim Cook-Steve Jobs
As announced last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook will headline this year's D10 Conference hosted by AllThingsD, sitting down for an opening session interview tomorrow, Tuesday, May 29, at 6:00 PM Pacific / 9:00 PM Eastern. MacRumors will be on hand to provide live coverage of the session.
Cook is not expected to make any product announcements, but the session should offer some interesting insight into Cook and Apple. Tomorrow's on-stage appearance by Cook will be his first at the annual D Conference, but Steve Jobs made a number of notable appearances there over the years including a joint interview with Bill Gates back in 2007.
In fact, as AllThingsD noted when it announced Cook's participation, it will be his first on-stage appearance as CEO at any event not run by Apple or targeted at investors. Cook, who previously served several stints handling Apple's day-to-day operations during Steve Jobs' medical leaves of absence, was officially named CEO last August.
The schedule for D10 also includes screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who will be handling the screen adaptation of Walter Isaacson's authorized biography of Steve Jobs. Other headlining names include Pixar and Walt Disney Animation president Ed Catmull, Oracle founder and CEO Larry Ellison, and New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. read more..

Upcoming Film Adaptation-Independent Film-Ashton Kutcher-Aaron Sorkin
Sony Pictures today announced that Aaron Sorkin will indeed serve as the screenwriter for the studio's upcoming film adaptation of Walter Isaacson's authorized biography of Steve Jobs. Sorkin, who is famous for his work on The West Wing, The Social Network, Moneyball, and A Few Good Men, noted late last year that he was "strongly considering" taking on the project.Commenting on the announcement, [Sony Pictures Co-Chairman Amy] Pascal said, “Steve Jobs’ story is unique: he was one of the most revolutionary and influential men not just of our time but of all time. There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin; in his hands, we’re confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was: captivating, entertaining, and polarizing.”Casting for the film has yet to be determined, but rumors have suggested that George Clooney and Noah Wyle may be in the running for the role of Jobs. Wyle portrayed Jobs in the 1999 made-for-TV film The Pirates of Silicon Valley, which focused on the early days of Jobs and Bill Gates.
The project is a completely separate effort from an independent film about Jobs that has Ashton Kutcher starring in the lead role. Just last week, Kutcher was spotted wearing Jobs' trademark wardrobe en route to the film's set, where filming is currently underway while Kutcher is on a break from his television show Two and a Half Men. read more..

Bloomberg Businessweek-Ceo Larry Page Claims-Relationship-Steve Jobs-Google
In a new interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page claims that Steve Jobs' war on Android was "for show", a move that served as a rallying point for Apple and its employees.I think the Android differences were actually for show. I had a relationship with Steve. I wouldn’t say I spent a lot of time with him over the years, but I saw him periodically. [...]
I think [the fury around Android] served their interests. For a lot of companies, it’s useful for them to feel like they have an obvious competitor and to rally around that.Page goes on to claim that he believes companies should not be looking at their competitors and instead should simply be doing their best to improve the world.
Jobs had mentored Page and Sergey Brin in Google's early days, and Jobs reportedly requested a meeting with Page last year after Page took over as CEO. According to Page, the two discussed the business of running a company during that amicable meeting. But Jobs made clear in his authorized biography that he intended to "destroy Android", threatening to wage "thermonuclear war" in an attempt to bring down what he viewed as a stolen mobile platform.
At least publicly, Page suggests that Jobs' position was somewhat more nuanced, with the two able to maintain a relationship while Jobs' anger toward Android included a bit of posturing to keep the rapidly-growing competitor at the forefront of Apple's attention. read more..
